    Patterns and trends in entrepreneurial network literature: 1993-2003

    Main articleThe structure of the large laniary teeth of the Lower Carboniferous rhipidistian fish Rhizodu hibberti Ag. is interpreted in terms of a new theory of tooth development. The structure of these teeth is found to correspond almost exactly to that of the synchronomorial scale as defined by Orvig (195 1) and Stensio (1961 ; 1962). These labyrinthodont teeth are thus shown to be composed of many tooth primordia, and are not a single unit of dentine. Some isolated Rhizodus teeth are described in which the entire labyrinthodont structure is missing, leaving an empty space inside the tooth.     Interacting with digital media at home via a second screen

    In recent years Interactive Television (iTV) has become a household technology on a global scale. However, iTV is still a new technology in the early stages of its evolution. Our previous research looked at how everyday users of iTV feel about the interactive part of iTV. In a series of studies we investigated how people use iTV services; their likes, dislikes, preferences and opinions. We then developed a second screen-based prototype device in response to these findings and tested it with iTV users in their own homes. This is a work in progress paper that outlines the work carried previously in the area of controlling interactive Television via a second screen. The positive user responses led us to extend the scope of our previous research to look into other related areas such as barriers to digital interactive media and personalisation of digital interactive media at home

    Main articleWhilst comparing the skulls of some Triassic dicynodonts with Permian members of the family, it was noted that the interpterygoid space in the former is consistently smaller than in the latter (Cruickshank 1965: 1967). In analysing this difference further, the palates of a series of Permian and Triassic dicynodonts were examined, either directly or from published diagrams.     Over time and depending upon circumstances Americans flip-flop over what we think makes teachers good. Thus, several visions of good teachers have appeared and disappeared. In part, our inability to sustain agreement on what makes teachers good results from a belief that all good teachers are or should be the same, that one size fits all. We fail to embrace or even consider the idea that there are multiple kinds of good teachers. Here ten visions of good teaching are described. The challenge is to validate as many as possible and then permit teachers to describe, and when appropriate, document what kind of good teacher they are

    The Development of Organometallic OBOC Peptide Libraries for use in Molecular Imaging

    The discovery of peptide-based targeted imaging agents is hindered by the required addition of a radionuclide that can affect the binding properties of the peptide. Screening of peptide libraries is problematic because they do not take into account the presence of the imaging agent. Herein the development of an organometallic OBOC peptide library that contain a rhenium (I) tricarbonyl-based imaging entity surrogate incorporated directly onto the peptide chain, is reported. Additionally, MALDI tandem mass spectrometry is reported as a method to deconvolute organometallic peptides containing four different rhenium (I) tricarbonyl chelates on the N-terminus of octapeptides. Furthermore, an organometallic OBOC peptide library is created and screened against the GLP-1R (glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor) in order to discover potential imaging agents for diagnosis of diabetes and insulinomas. The methods reported herein can be applied to develop peptide-based imaging agents for a wide variety of relevant targets

    The gorgonopsians as typically developed were undoubtedly the dominant land carnivores of the Upper Permian and have been compared with the sabre-tooth cats of the Tertiary (Parrington, 1955, p. 7 and Kemp, 1969b, p. 321). However, the similarities between the two groups are almost entirely confined to their dentitions and the general proportions of their lower jaws, both possessing greatly enlarged canine teeth and relatively weak coronoid processes on the lower jaw. In addition, both groups show adaptations to allow the lower jaw to make a wide gape, thus allowing the upper and lower canines to clear each other when the jaw is opened and, at the same time, keeping the jaw articulations from dislocating during this movement

    Main articleThe types of the species hitherto assigned to the genus Kannemeyeria Seeley 1908 have been re-examined and D. simocephalus Weithofer, D. latifrons Broom, K. proboscoides Seeley, Sagecephalus pachychynchus Jaekel and K. erithrea Haughton are synonymised as K. simocephalus (Weit). K. wilsoni Broom is retained as a monotypic species, but could be considered a female of K. simocephalus. The genus Kannemeyeria is redefined using the type of K. erithrea as a basis, as this specimen is complete, almost undistorted and comes from a reliably recorded locality, unlike the majority of other types. Kannemeyeria vanhoepeni Camp, while closely related to Kannemeyeria Simocephalus, has only one character in common with that species and is placed therefore in a new genus Proplacerias. This name is chosen because the specimen seem to have the characters which might be expected in a very early representative of the line leading to Placerias.     Proterochampsa barrioneuvoi Reig is re-examined and is confirmed as a proterosuchian thecodont. None of the features previously thought to ally it to the Crocodilia are solely characteristic of that group. On the other hand it is not a phytosaur nor phytosaur ancestor, only showing one real trend towards these animals in the rearward migration of the internal and external nares. Proterochampsa and its relatives Chanaresuchus, Gualosuchus and Cerritosaurus are too late in time to be phytosaur ancestors.
